Visit Mursi, Hamer, Karo, and Dorze communities, witness traditional ceremonies, and explore colorful local markets. This cultural immersion includes 4×4 transport, camping and lodge accommodation, experienced cultural guide, all meals, and community visit permits. A truly unique anthropological adventure.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Fly from Addis Ababa to Arba Minch. Afternoon boat trip on Lake Chamo to see hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife. Visit the crocodile market where Nile crocodiles bask on the shores. Overnight in Arba Minch.
Drive to Turmi through scenic landscapes. Visit Konso village, known for terraced agriculture and unique cultural traditions (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Continue to Turmi, home of the Hamer tribe. Evening visit to Hamer village to learn about their customs and traditions. Overnight in Turmi.
If scheduled, witness the spectacular Hamer bull jumping ceremony, a rite of passage for young men. Visit Hamer villages and local markets (Monday is market day). Meet Hamer women famous for their elaborate hairstyles and traditional dress. Overnight in Turmi.
Day trip to Omorate on the Omo River. Cross the river by boat to visit Dassanech villages. The Dassanech people are known for their unique body decorations and traditional lifestyle. Return to Turmi for overnight.
Drive to Jinka via Key Afer (Thursday is market day - colorful gathering of Hamer, Banna, and Tsemay tribes). Visit Ari villages en route. Arrive in Jinka and visit the South Omo Museum to learn about the region's diverse tribes. Overnight in Jinka.
Drive to Mago National Park to visit Mursi villages. The Mursi women are famous for wearing large clay lip plates. Learn about their unique customs and semi-nomadic lifestyle. Photography opportunities (with permission and small fee). Return to Jinka for overnight.
Drive back to Arba Minch through scenic Omo Valley landscapes. Stop at viewpoints and small villages. Arrive in Arba Minch in late afternoon. Overnight in Arba Minch.
Morning flight back to Addis Ababa. Day room for rest and shower. Last-minute shopping. Transfer to airport for international departure. End of Omo Valley Tribal Experience.
